Latest news from Kavery Nambisian:
I'm happy to tell you that the Association of Rural
Surgeeons of India, of which I'm a governing council member has
managed to get the govt of India to agree to start a
postgraduate 3 year course in rural surgery. So my dream of
giving good quality care in the villages and small towns will be
somewhat realised. We have formed the syllabus to be very
practically oriented. The students will initially be very few in
number and will work in close association with rural surgeons
who are competent and keen to teach. And this year we sent a
three rural surgeons to Tanzania for a conference where they
will present how we run ICUs, and do sophisticated surgery in
rural areas with the facilities we have.
Here, I've been asked to speak at Yale, Cornell and Columbia
universities about my role as surgeon and writer and how I
portray reality through my fiction.
